The Telecom Sector Skill Council or TSSC is a not-for-profit organization under Societies Registration Act, 1860. Jointly established by Indian Cellular Association (ICA), Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), and Telecom Centers of Excellence (TCOE), TSSC is the industry-led apex organization to ensure ample supply of skilled manpower to boost productivity and growth in telecom sector. TSSC is established under the sponsorship of National Skill Development Corporation with members from several Telecom industries and associations with ICA, COAI, TAIPA and AUSPI. Indian telecom sector has registered consistent growth of over 35% over the last decade when it comes to subscribers.
India is the fastest growing and second largest telecom market across the world with Tele-density of over 77%, and 939 million subscribers since August 31, 2012, according to TRAI. In addition, the mobile handset sales per year is supposed to cross over 200 million units and India is constantly becoming the leading manufacturing hub for Telecom market. With m-commerce, m-governance, m-health, m-education, m-gaming, online shopping, m2m communications, online shopping, and other innovations, telecom has permeate the lives of individuals in years to come. The success of Indian telecom industry would keep up with smart phones and focus on under-penetrated markets.
Telecom is a dynamic sector which employs around 2.8 million individuals and another 7 million in indirect way. Hence, it is one of the largest job markets in India. It can generate virtually similar amount of job opportunities over the 10 years to come. It gave rise to skill development in telecom sector. Hence, TSSC is aimed to develop the pool of human resources of proper amount and quality to fulfill the ever growing demand in the industry.
